Your guiding arms envelop me I slip down the slope of your shoulder We sink slowly, soft at first, and full Deep down, rich ground Your hip bones dip, rise, and rush Take me in Thick, quick hands run and roll Tilling our bodies together Raising up the cool soil underneath Your wet tongue warm on my neck Wills a river through my body I sink into the soft sand of your stomach Your wild ridges and valleys A desert, an oasis Ever constant and ever changing You are glorious
Leah is an Arizona transplant from Colorado who is still trying to get
used to the desert heat. She is an avid poet, published haikuist, amateur
baker, and admirer of iambic pentameter. She is passionate about rap as
verse poetry and working to foster a vibrant literary community. When Leah
is not immersed in the world of words, you can find her exploring Tucson’s
hiking trails, birdwatching, or chasing after her strong-willed child.
